About Newtown, PA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The township of Newtown, population approximately 20,000, was founded in 1683 by William Penn on land he purchased from the Leni Lenape Indians.  He referred to the settlement as my “new township,” thus the name Newtown.  Newtown is rich in local history and is the site of many historically significant structures from the 18th and 19th centuries.  The Newtown Heritage Walk is a walking tour that was conceived by the Newtown Historic Association.  It takes visitors on a self-guided journey down State and Sycamore Streets past thirty-four historical buildings from Newtown’s past.

The Newtown Theater dates back to 1831 and owns the distinction of being the oldest movie theater in the United States.  In the early 1850s, it was known as Newton Hall and used primarily for live theater productions and local social gatherings.  The first movie was shown there in 1906.  Through recent technical modifications and the addition of air conditioning, the theater is now a thriving enterprise featuring live stage productions and first run movies.

In addition to the wealth of history available there, the township boasts an abundance of shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities, as well.  Sycamore and State Streets are teeming with restaurants and shopping experiences of all kinds.  A complete list and detailed map of establishments located within the district is available.  For outdoor fun and activity, there are six community parks located in the Newtown area, including the fifty-acre Clark Nature Center located on Durham Road that features a wilderness trail that will appeal to serious and casual hikers alike.
